Sad to see that there is nothing left of the defensive powerhouse gyor used to be. More then deserved for mosonmagyarovar. Albek especially played really nice!
Gyor had no defense, poor shots and no teamplay. They will have a hard season if they can't turn this around.

FTC won from Gyor with 28-22. Blanka Biro with 14 saves from 35!

Why is Gyor so bad? They have a superstar at every position, they have an all-star bench, and still they fail to win the CL and even the local cup for the last 3 seasons. What do you think is their problem?

Long gone are the days where we had 2 teams that dominated Europe.
Other teams are getting better and stronger not only by buying superstar players but developing domestic and foreign players that have potential and using all of that potential.
It is the only good thing that this new garbage style of handball brought. Now you just have to be faster than your opponent and have a decent goalkeeper. Defenses are weaker, attacks are not better just faster with a lot of turnovers, less strategy, less tactics..
I'm watching teams like BBM, Esbjerg, the Netherlands, Norway, Gyor with Kirkely, Odense, no strategy at all, just running like crazy and shooting no matter if and how many times you miss. And on good days they can crush everyone especially Balkan teams. Mostly this tactics is successful. But if they start missing or the opponent GK has a good day and a mobile defense they can easily lose. Just look at how Gyor lost to CSM at home, barely won and draw against Brest, lost to DVSC.
BBM also, started strong, but later all collapsed.
If Hojlund and other Odense players start missing a lot because of speed they lose.
Fast game is a risky game you either explode and demolish the opponent or you make a lot of TO and miss a lot.
The only remedy for that is the french defense though not even they can stop Reistad.

So my point here is having superstar players doesn't matter anymore if the opponent outruns you. You score a goal and while getting back in defense the opponent already scored or is close to scoring.
If you have a great defense which recently only France plays you can hope for a win.

We never had so many goals in women's matches. Now many teams easily score more than 30 goals.
Just remember the days of "butcher" defense.
