2 more arenas open in Romania. Unfortunately, their best teams are the basketball ones. The same thing as in Cluj Napoca.
There are still many other ongoing projects, and others in advanced starting status.
Oradea (5,300)
Pitești (4,800)

After a break of 10 years, Oltchim is back! SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea concluded sponsorship partnership with Chimcomplex
Who is the new sponsor of SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea?
In 2018, Chimcomplex SA acquired the most important assets of SC Oltchim, in the largest transaction of the last 30 years in the chemical industry, worth 130 million euros. In 2021, Chimcomplex recorded a turnover of 2,244 billion lei.
"We believe that the signing of this partnership is a first step for the return of handball from Vâlcea to the top, both at the national and European level. Chimcomplex supports innovation in everything it does and we trust that this joining of forces will bring another dynamic to the club" , said the director of SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea , Marius Țuca.
The president of Chimcoplex, Ștefan Vuza, announces that he will have ambitious goals with the handball team.
"We joined with the idea of continuing a historic partnership and at the same time building step by step, this story, just like in chemistry. The potential is great, a team of historical value, a club of tradition, supported by strong funding partners and passionate supporters will continue to win. We are setting ambitious goals regarding this partnership, our vision goes very far and we are confident that together we will achieve remarkable results and a constant evolution of which we can be proud day by day" , declared Ștefan Vuza.

Re: Romanian National League 22/23
Good news or bad news? I didn't pay attention but it seems Craiova wasn't satisfied with the new arena, which was on an old skeleton that was not completed many years ago.
So the works for a new arena have started. So they put in the excavators in March. 6000 seats, it's a complex with many including a velodrome. https://www.sport.ro/sporturi/proiect-grandios-in-craiova-investitie-de-73-milioane-de-euro-pentru-un-ozn-multifunctional-imagini-ce.html
I hope they speed up because with the arenas were are behind. Their football is anyway dead.
We will have one of the best infrastructures even in the whole Europe at some point.
Oh, situation in Brașov!

Re: Romanian National League 22/23
So CSM Bucharest had a great season in the domestic competitions, winners of SuperCup, Romanian Cup and also the Championship.
To sum up, these teams will play next season in Europe representing Romania:
- CSM Bucharest (EHF CL)
- Rapid Bucharest (EHF CL if awarded a WC)
- CSM Tg Jiu (EHF European Cup as Cup runner up)
- Gloria Bistrita (EHF European Cup)
- Dunarea Braila (EHF European Cup if Rapid is awarded an upgrade)

1., All of them will (or may) participate in EHF European League, not in the European Cup (ex Challenge Cup). No club from the top nations may participate in that competition.swarthofole wrote:- CSM Tg Jiu (EHF European Cup as Cup runner up)
- Gloria Bistrita (EHF European Cup)
- Dunarea Braila (EHF European Cup if Rapid is awarded an upgrade)
2., Whether Braila may participate in EL does not depend on Rapid's upgrade but is a separate decision.

Re: Romanian National League 22/23
European League, Cup, EHF confuses me...
But I know you know what I meant.
About Rapid and Braila, it is not yet the proper time to open the discussion, but it's very likely that Rapid will be awarded a wildcard. If not, they will end up participating in European League which means Braila are out. As far as I remember Romania is granted 3 spots, one of them being thw winner of the Cup (Tg Jiu in this case as runner up). But I might be wrong with spot allocation if EHF changed something since last year.

Re: Romanian National League 22/23
Romania has 4 international places in 2023/24. Basically 1 in CL and 3 in EL.swarthofole wrote: As far as I remember Romania is granted 3 spots, one of them being thw winner of the Cup (Tg Jiu in this case as runner up). There is no such a thing as a wild card for the CL. The process, called officially as "upgrade" is called in everyday speech, inofficially, often "wild card", but there is a serious reason why it is called upgrade: it does not increase the amount of international starting places a nation* has, but only upgrades, changes 1 EL place into a CL place. So if Rapid will be granted an upgrade, it would mean unchanged 4 places to Romania, but 2+2 instead of 1+3, i.e. 1 EL place could be converted to a CL place, and no place added.
However, there are Wild Cards for the European League, 1 Romanian club may apply. If this wild card will be granted (what is very likely), it could increase the amount of international starting places from 4 to 5. But this decision is not connected to the decision about Rapid's upgrade. It is possible (unlikely, but possible) that Rapid's application will be denied and Brailas in the EL accepted, so Romania could have 1 club in CL and 4 in EL.
Once again: I expect both application being accepted, so actually Romania having 2 clubs in CL and 3 in EL. I only wanted to explain that it's about two separate applications and separate decisions.
* actually a handball federation but in most cases it's the same

Re: Romanian National League 22/23
This is precisely what I said, but with different words and not getting through all those details. So I really don't get why starting this discussion right now. Rapid will apply for upgrade (100% sure they will and 100% sure will be accepted), so that basically means Braila would be accepted as well as 3rd Romanian team (with 3 allocated spots). I have no info about the 4th Romanian team applying for an upgrade for European League (maybe Buzau will), but I know for sure Tg Jiu were asked if they would like to apply for CL upgrade (which I don't think they will).
But like I said, let's not get into these details now, all I wanted to say is that most probably those 5 teams are representing Romania during next season.
Let's not forget about what Anol said, but I didn't even mention that because it will get more complicated and it's useless at the moment.
