Unlucky Switzerland..
They were in pot 1 and the draw wasn’t kind to them.. the worst possible opponent.

Just now (personal opinion), Switzerland is better than Czech Republic.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Today begins the qualification tournament of Central America and the Carribeans, in Managua, Nicaragua. If I understand correctly, the first two teams qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
The partipicants: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Chile, Paraguay.
I don't know what Chile and Paraguay do in Central America, but since I lived in Paraguay for a while, I'm a Paraguay's fan. Vamos Paraguay! Although I must admit handball is not one of Paraguay's specialites.

Broadcasts (for money): https://fanatiz.com.
I have no idea about the quality of the broadcasts, but since I'm already subscribed there, I'm going to find out. There are no other handball games to watch these days!

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
After two rounds, it's already safe to say that Chile and Paraguay will qualify to the World Cup. Paraguay had beaten Costa Rica and Nicaragua 35-13 and 44-28, while Chile won against Guatemala and El Salvador, 37-20 and 37-13.
There was a big question at Paraguay - Costa Rica: When will Costa Rica scores its first goal? 5 minutes had passed, 10 minutes, 15 minutes... Only after 18 minutes Costa Rica had its first goal. No one mess with Paraguay! Paraguay's iron defence is ready for the World Cup, but is the World ready for it???
Pauli Fernandez from Atletico Guardes is like usuaul the best player of Paraguay. Also stood out Fernanda Insfran from another Spanish team, Lanzarote, and left back Camila Fescenko, who works as a marketing manager at a High-tech firm when she doesn't play handball.

The North American and Carribean Championship began tonight at Greenland. Five nations participate in the tournament: Greenland, Canada, Cuba, Mexico and USA. They will play against each other and the two best teams will play in the final. The winner qualifies to the World Cup.

Isn't the US qualified no matter what? Or is that only for the men?

According to this, USA will get wild cards to the 2025 and 2027 Men's and Women's World Championships. So I guess they still need to beat the mighty nations of Greenland, Mexico, Canada and Cuba to qualify for 2023

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Apparently The US would get a wild card to 2025 World Cup only in case "that the USA national teams have reached a certain performance level". Well, USA finished botton at the North American and Carribean Championship, 4 losses from 4 games with these results: 11-26, 12-27, 22-30, 12-36. It doesn't seem like they "have reached a certain performance level" yet.
Today is the grand finale, Greenland - Canada, 20:00 cet, all tickets are sold out. Live broadcast here: https://www.youtube.com/@TAAK_Kalaallit
The winner qualifies to the World Cup. Greenland won the group game between them 30-19.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Well Dofer, I haven't read that anywhere. But notice how it is not elaborated on what "a certain performance level" means. It is very vague. That means that the IHF and Dr. Hassan can do whatever the fuck they want. And probably will.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
It's in the original decision:
You are probably right though and the US will get the wild card anyway. Just surprising that the women's team is so terrible.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
ok, but then then this year for women is not under this decision. But I mean they gave it to the men's last time didn't they? Or did they actually qualify?

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Yes, probably the US Women Team won't participate in the 2023 World Cup, unless IHF gets even crazier than usual.
Seems that the men actually qualified through winning the 2022 North American and Carribean Championship.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Greenland is in the World Cup! In the 46th minutes, Canada had equaled the score to 15-15. From that minute on, Canada hadn't scored even one goal Greenland bombed them with two goals during those 14 minutes, and won the game 17-15. Let's hope for a Denmark - Greenland derbi at the World Cup.

Dofer, in Greenland are also the indigenous Greenlandic Inuits. About 20K emigrated to Denmark.

Re: 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship
Sweden and Montenegro must be happy with the draw.
If they qualify for 1/4, do they match with teams from E and F group ? Edit ... YES
