John, it's questionable, at the top however Rapid have met much stronger opponents. How many better teams than Gyor do you know? In the CSM group, Odense were full of injuries. Vipers have problems with relaxation after two trophies, and it is known that Gjekstad is leaving, plus most importantly they do not have an actual playmaker. CSM lost the match in Norway by 6 goals and won at home by 3 goals. In Romania, Vipers had more absences.

Gyor is 8-0-2, losing only to Rapid and Metz. Last season having 13-0-1 in the groups, with defeat only in Norway by 1 goal difference and in the final of the group. And in 2020/2021, Gyor were undefeated in groups.

No doubt they will grant a wildcard, otherwise the strongest league as foreign signings should offer at least 2 teams. The coefficient is also high. If we had the players from 15 years ago, Romania would have been stronger than the former Danish league.

I thought so until Polman was signed. And the second Kanor. And 3 other big transfers are planned. The competition is high (currently Kanor and Polman are reserves at Grozav and Buceschi, as well as Ainhoa at Ostase; and Dedu and Kassoma have not even played yet, plus Alicia is injured), good bench, and on our own ground the girls are very strong. But Rapid is growing, they will play very well away from home.

Next year for sure, we have Bogdan Vasiliu as manager. He brought the trophy to CSM.

Too bad we probably can't play straight into the quarters as Gyor and Metz are Final 4 contenders. What makes you think that in our group, CSM would have obtained a qualification place directly?

From the quarters to winning the Champions League, it's not a big difference. Vipers won the first CL appearing out of nowhere. Coming out of nowhere. SCM Craiova defeated Vipers not long ago. Of course, they are Norwegian, but the 2016 CSM won the CL without Neagu and with less proven players. Vipers won last year's edition with Jerabkova.

Why wouldn't we be contenders? Our squad is increasing in value, in the CL only Gyor, CSM, Vipers and Metz are above this season as a roster. We need luck too indeed. To beat one from BBC/FTC/Krim, then either get lucky as draw with one from Denmark, which is more similar to the squad, or eliminate one of the top 4. The fan factor is massive. If we do not qualify directly, in the playoffs we play against an opponent with a weaker team, and in the quarters we can pull off an upset.

We beat CSM because we know it. Rapid are the champions, not 'the team of Adrian Vasile'.
